Keep warm, keep well.
With Christmas becoming a distant memory, the fridge is less and less full of leftovers you may feel that the worst of winter is over and spring is on it's way. Whilst that indeed may be the case, January to March can be some of the coldest months Britain endures, looking back at our track history of The Beast from the East, things aren't looking too promising. Keeping warm and well fed in winter is incredibly important; the cold makes us tired and lethargic, less energised to get up and move about, let alone work away in the kitchen. This leads to malnourishment and other cold related ailments; a saddening number of people died due to avoidable causes -

Oakhouse backs the Manchester ‘Fill the Foodbanks’ plea
The Greater Manchester branch of Oakhouse Foods is backing Manchester’s ‘HITS Radio’ plea to fill up Manchester’s food banks. One in three children in Manchester lives in poverty, that’s 75,000 school children who don’t have enough food to eat. During the summer holidays, the food banks are under enormous pressure due to the number of children that lose the all important daily school meal. Matthew Brennand, Branch Manager of Oakhouse Greater Manchester, loaded up his delivery vans and headed down to the radio station to donate £250 of goods, which was greatly appreciated by the team at HITS Radio. -

Going the Extra Mile
Our drivers are the face of Oakhouse Foods. They’re a key part of your experience when you order from us, and do so much more than deliver meals to your door. If your driver has stayed to chat, helped unpack or even come to the rescue, we want to hear about it. We’re launching our Extra Mile Award 2018, where we recognise exceptional Oakhouse drivers. For this annual award, we’re asking you to nominate one of our lovely drivers who has gone above and beyond for you. There are three ways you can nominate someone. Simply click here to fill in the short form. Or if you’d like to do it later, we’ll be promoting the Extra Mile Award throughout August – so just look out for details in our upcoming emails. Alternatively, you can find a slip on the back of your delivery note which you can fill out and post back to us. -
Groceries: make light work of your weekly shop
We all want to feel healthy and happy in our own home. Which is where having enough of the more everyday groceries we use for cooking, cleaning and washing, helps keep life ticking over smoothly. From planning menus to enjoying a relaxing bath every evening – there’s plenty to think about when it comes to what you buy, how much and when. And if you don’t want to lug heavy bags back from the supermarket, Oakhouse can help. We’ll ensure your freezer is always stocked up with delicious meals and desserts, and take care of the grocery side of things too. -

Delivering great food, whatever the weather
Our dedicated drivers have been battling the unseasonable weather conditions all over the country to get your Oakhouse meals and desserts out to you this week. We’ve seen heavy snow in lots of places, from Croydon to East Anglia, and drivers like Rob from our North West branch have been facing motorways at a standstill and difficult driving conditions. Despite the disruption, our drivers are working hard to get to everyone and to make sure that most of our deliveries are made as close to our usual times as possible. If we’re running behind with deliveries we’ll do our best to keep everyone informed about what is happening. If you’d like some more information about deliveries in your area, you can find and contact your local branch here. -

2017 Extra Mile Award Winner!
We know that a friendly face can make all the difference and our experienced drivers often deliver so much more than meals - many also give their time and support whenever it’s needed and it’s wonderful to hear your positive stories about these unsung heroes. In September, we launched this year’s Extra Mile Award. Our annual award recognises the dedication of many of our delivery drivers who go above and beyond the call of duty. We have received hundreds of nominations for our hardworking drivers across the country. We really loved hearing all the positive comments about our drivers. The Winner! From previous years’ awards, the standard has been set very high. However, there was one clear winner in 2017 who stood out from the crowd. That was Rob Finnigan, from the Kent region, who has proved himself to be one of our most hardworking and popular drivers.
