It’s a well-known fact that Farmer’s Markets are a fantastic source for fresh, seasonal, locally-produced foods, and they’re now cropping up in more places than ever! Oakhouse Foods decided to join in with the fun and appeared for the first time at the Olney Farmers Market, near Bedford.  Here was a chance to show exactly what Oakhouse Foods are made of! After days of rain, we were lucky enough to be setting up the market stall on a rare dry day! Part of the set up included hot tasters of some of our favourite dishes – Beef in Chianti, Chicken and Butternut Squash Pie, Creamy Cheese and Broccoli Bake and Beef and Wild Mushroom Lasagne - which the customers appeared to love! They all said how amazed they were that these were frozen dishes. One of our team members present, Maxine Mardle, noticed their was a lot of interest from people who hadn’t heard of us before, which was exactly why we had gone! The aim of the day wasn’t just to sell, but to change consumers’ perceptions of home delivered food and to generate interest. We loved letting people try our food for themselves, and talking about why we think it’s the fresh, wholesome ingredients that put us amongst the best you’ll find! We spent the whole day meeting new people and answering a huge range of queries and questions! We also found that it wasn’t just customers coming to us to sample our food, but also our fellow market traders! Other traders were buying our food for us to cook them for their lunch as well as mentioning that we should bring our all day breakfast for them to tuck into next week! Another fun aspect of the day was our competition where customers at the market were asked to guess how many pasta shapes were in the jar in order to win themselves £30 worth of food. This produced a range of diverse answers…some better than others! If you want to know the answer, then you’ll have to get yourself down to the market next week for some tasty temptations and your chance to win!
